NID Entrance 2024 Exam: Registrations, Dates, Eligibility, Pattern, Syllabus, Cut Offs
NID Entrance Exam 2024 – The National Institute of Design (NID) conducted the B.Des Mains Exam 2024 on April 27- 28, 2024. The Institute released the NID DAT Mains Admit Card 2024 on April 15, 2024. The mains DAT admit cards was published online at the admission portal of NID, i.e. admissions.nid.edu. Earlier, NID closed the window to submit test center preferences for the B.Des DAT Mains Studio Test on April 10, 2024. The allotment of test centers was done on a first-come, first-served basis. To download the B.Des DAT Hall Ticket, the candidate had to login by using the email ID and date of birth.
Earlier, the results of B.Des DAT Prelims 2024 were declared on April 4, 2024. The M.Des DAT Prelims results were released earlier on February 16, 2024. Currently, the National Institute of Design conducted the M.Des DAT Mains 2024 exam from March 4 to April 4, 2024. When reporting for the M.Des DAT Mains exam, make sure that you bring the NID DAT 2024 (Mains) admit card and a valid photo ID proof.
The FINAL results of the NID DAT 2024 exam will be prepared by giving weightage to DAT Prelims and DAT Mains. The minimum qualifying criteria and weighatges for NID DAT 2024 final results is OUT. NID DAT 2024 (Prelims) exam was conducted in an OMR-based mode on December 24, 2024.
What is NID Entrance Exam?
NID Design Aptitude Test (DAT) is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the National Institute of Design (NID) to shortlist candidates for admission to the Bachelor of Design (BDes) and Master of Design (MDes) courses offered by the participating institutes.
Currently, the B.Des course has an intake of 425 seats and is offered at the following FIVE campuses – NID Ahmedabad, NID Andhra Pradesh, NID Haryana, NID Madhya Pradesh, and NID Assam. Meanwhile, the M.Des course offers 347 seats at its THREE campuses – NID Ahmedabad, NID Gandhinagar, and NID Bengaluru
The Design Aptitude Test (DAT) is conducted in two stages:
- DAT Prelims – The candidate first appears in DAT Prelims.
- DAT Mains – Shortlisted candidates have to appear in DAT Mains.
The admission merit list of NID DAT will be prepared by giving weightage to DAT Prelims and DAT Mains.

NID DAT Admit Card 2024 (OUT)
The National Institute of Design released admit cards for the B.Des DAT Mains Studio Test on April 15, 2024. Note that the admit cards for M.Des DAT Mains were released earlier on February 22, 2024.
Admit cards will be issued to all candidates who have qualified DAT Prelims.
To download the admit card, follow these steps:
- Go to NID admission portal
- Click on the admit card download link
- A log-in window will open
- Enter your email ID and date of birth to download the admit card.
On the day of the DAT Mains 2024 exam, the candidates must bring with them the admit card and a valid photo ID proof. Also, get the admit card duly signed by the invigilator and with the seal of the center.
The M.Des DAT Mains 2024 exam was conducted from March 4 – April 4, 2024. Meanwhile, the B.Des DAT Mains Studio Test 2024 will be conducted on April 28, 2024.
The DAT Prelims admit card was released on December 12, 2023.
Note that the signed (with the seal of the center) DAT Prelims admit card will be required to 1) request DAT Prelims result recheck and 2) to download the NID DAT 2024 answer sheet.
